Summary: Sixth-grader and self-proclaimed genius Nate Wright faces his all-time enemy, Gina, when they are paired to work on a enquiry paper together and she besides gets a position on his intramural squad.Fun, quick read that integrates traditional text and comics within the book. Kind of a mix of a graphic novel and a regular volume. I liked the first book so I wanted to read the next one in the series. I retrieve kids would really like it, particularly boys. Nate is confident almost his comics and his ability to captain his fleeceball squad in the large school tournament. Not afraid to say what is on his mind, Nate is often in trouble with the teachers, the principal, and the school cracking. Things are going well until he is assigned to work on a Ben Franklin Project with the person he hates most in this world, Gina (the teacher's pet) AND she is picked to be on his fleeceball team.
Funny parts I enjoyed: Nate creates some funny and original comic strips about what he learns most Ben Franklin. Nate selects the perfect name for his fleeceball squad, Psycho Dogs, but when he doesn't tell the coach in fourth dimension, Gina names the squad the Kuddle Kittens.

I received an Advance Reader'due south Copy of Big Nate Strikes Again by Lincoln Pierce. I did not receive any compensation for reviewing this volume.Kids who dear Greg Hefley from Diary of a Wimpy Kid are going to dearest Nate Wright. Parents will probably like Nate better.
Based on the comic strip "Big Nate" this serial details the trials and tribulations of 6th grader Nate Wright. Nate finally has a gamble to win the coveted SPOFFY Trophy (Sports Played Only For Fun). He'due south been selected as a team captain for fleeceball – an indoor version of baseball. But nothing always goes smoothly. Kept after school by a teacher, Nate is unable to go far to the meeting to selection his team. He lucks out and his all-time friends Teddy and Francis are on the team, but so is his archenemy – A+ know it all Gina! Not just does he have to put up with Gina on his fleeceball team, he'south paired with her on a social studies project. Tin things go whatsoever worse or more hilarious?
The humour in this volume is definitively historic period appropriate. As an uncomplicated librarian I spend a good deal of time around young children. The humor is right on target, but it's not so obnoxious (as some kid like humor – Captain Underpants for instance – can be) that adults volition not enjoy it every bit well. I love Jeff Kinney and his Diary of a Wimpy Kid series. But lets exist honest, I think I similar Nate better. (Don't worry I'll however anxiously await any new Wimpy Kid books.) Nate is one of those likeable characters. Ever up to something, just so charming yous can't help but like him. If you lot work in a schoolhouse, y'all know what I'thousand talking about.
As I mentioned in the beginning, I received an Advanced Readers' Copy of this volume. I liked it so much that not only am I going to recommend information technology to my students, I've already ordered a difficult cover copy of this and the first book in the series for my library at dwelling.
Recommended for 3rd grade and upward. (The AR reading level is 3.0 and even though Nate is a sixth grader, based on my experience I'm pretty certain 3rd form and older will savour this book.)

Mom's Review: Honestly didn't even need to carp reading this since Jake told me the whole story when he was writing up his review. Must remind him about spoilers. Merely I read it anyhow and I agree pretty much with Jake'southward opinion on this i. Information technology isn't every bit good as the outset book, merely still definitely worth the price. Nate is a fun character and I actually like the friendship between him and his two buddies. It is very realistic the way they diss each other. Trust me, I have watched Jake with his buddies Brian and Matthew and they love the dissing. Like the Diary of a Wimpy Child books, this is an awesome serial for reluctant readers. In that location is a skillful mix betwixt illustrations and writing to keep even the about reluctant reader interested. I actually recommend these be role of all schoolhouse and public libraries. Hopefully they will get the same attention as the Wimpy Child books. BTW, at that place is a Librarian in this and really could you non accept made her a little less stereotypical -- I know picky, picky.
Mom's Rating: 9/x
We received this from the HarperCollins berth at the OLA and wasn't required to review it, nosotros but really liked them
...moreNate Wright faces ii big upcoming events at the aforementioned time equally the volume gets under way. The get-go is the handing out of a major project in the social studies class of the intimidating Mrs. Godfrey, Nate's 50
In my opinion, this book exceeds its predecessor on most levels. When at its best, the sense of humor is fully on par with that of Jeff Kinney's Diary of a Wimpy Child serial, and the storyline shows improved depth and creativity when compared to Lincoln Pierce's outset novel-in-cartoons about Large Nate.Nate Wright faces two large upcoming events at the same fourth dimension as the book gets under way. The kickoff is the handing out of a major projection in the social studies class of the intimidating Mrs. Godfrey, Nate'south to the lowest degree-favorite teacher. The project calls for 2-person collaboration, and Nate is randomly matched for the assignment with his archenemy Gina, whose generally obsequious mental attitude toward scholastic achievement and instructor relations gets on Nate's nerves to an extent matched by few other students. At present he has to find a way to work peaceably with Gina in coming upwards with a quality social studies project, or he'll be in danger of failing the grade.
The second big upcoming effect as the book begins is the commencement of intramural sports flavour. Nate has been selected as captain of the Fleeceball (it's an indoor version of baseball game) squad, and he's eagerly gunning to win the coveted SPOFFY trophy for the first time. His luck with intramural sports hasn't ever been peachy in the past, only this year he's entered in a sport at which he really excels, and he knows that his all-time opportunity to cop the laurels has finally arrived. There are just 3 bug: Nate'due south able-bodied nemesis, Randy Betancourt, has been named captain of the squad that poses the nigh serious threat to Nate'south title, Gina (!) has been assigned as a player on Nate's side, and a mixup with the deadline for choosing team names has led to Nate's squad being named the "Kuddle Kittens"...which was, of course, Gina's idea.
The social studies projection that Nate and Gina are collaborating on is to be a report virtually the life of Benjamin Franklin. Normally, Gina is a consistent A+ student and Nate barely gets passing grades because he doesn't care as much almost excelling in academics, but when Nate begins to read near Benjamin Franklin, he finds something of a kindred spirit in the American founding father. History takes on a deeper sense of real life, and Nate begins to think that peradventure the project won't be a drag afterwards all.
The Fleeceball league championship and finished social studies project come together in unexpected means, creating some surprising heroes as the stories accomplish their common conclusions. I remember that Nate has really learned something by the end of this book, and what he learns isn't at all obvious or heavy-handed. Lincoln Pierce is a skilful writer, and Big Nate Strikes Again is a fine example of his overall creative ability.
Above all else, this book is ingeniously comical. I laughed equally hard every bit I had while reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, and I can't say that very oftentimes. Big Nate Strikes Once more was a dandy deal of fun to read, and if Lincoln Pierce tin can go along up this level of humor in future books, then I tin can't wait to get my hands on them and see what more than Nate has in store for united states of america. I would recommend Big Nate Strikes Again for anyone who enjoys the Diary of a Wimpy Child serial and appreciates their distinctive brand of humor, or for anyone who, as in my instance, absolutely loves the Large Nate comic strip and can't become plenty of Nate Wright's adventures.

This book was very enjoyable even though it had its downsides I had a great time reading it. I gave this book three stars considering it was funny but it wasn't the nearly interesting volume. I recommend this book for people who like comedy and sense of humour.
...moreNotation: This was book #two. It is based on an actual comic strip.
Reading Time: Took me most an hour.
In this book and so far, it has been very funny and relatable. This book is funny because of how he compares things, and how he describes people. He is relatable considering because he loves to play sports and hates homework. I predict that he will win the Title with his squad against Randy Betancourt, and his project will Gina will go skillful. I don't think that him and Gina are going to cease arguing and hating each other. SPOILER Warning

I gave this book 3 stars considering I thought it was another great Large Nate volume. Nate must face up the harsh news of Gina, Nate'southward rival and the class pet, joining his school "fleeceball" team, which is pretty much similar baseball only the rules are a chip different. This was a skillful one, just as good as the outset. Funny storyline, good characters- the outset volume made me read the 2nd. I thought this was cracking, and this is a good volume for all ages.

Just because of these two problems
It is called the "The Kuddle Kittens" aka the worst fleece brawl proper name.....

Nates got the worst luck
ane)Teddy and Francis are in a team
